This multi-author book represents an intra-Vineyard conversation but may well prove useful to a wider evangelical and charismatic audience. In recent times, the doctrine of the atonement, and in particular penal substitution, has become a debated issue within the worldwide evangelical church, though more prominently in the Anglo-American context. Other questions intersect with this debate, including the eternal state of the lost, divine justice and the wrath of God, and the Trinitarian relationship between the Father and the Son in the event of the cross.
